The Attenuo wallet is a result of a lost wallet on a trip to Bali. It was a typical bi-fold wallet, which in hindsight was like carrying a brick around. As a temporary solution, I wrapped an elastic band around my cards and cash to keep them together.
After returning to the UK, for several months I continued to use this method. The lightness and minimalistic approach to carrying around only what you need felt refreshing (although I got some odd looks!!)
Around this time I was experimenting with 3D printing.
I modelled some wallet designs that would mimic the feel of the elastic band and printed them in plastic.
After several design iterations, with each one being tested with my cards for several days at a time I settled on a final design.
The lightness, thinness and slick card action felt amazing. There was no going back to a typical wallet.
This is where I decided more people needed to experience this.
But being plastic it felt cheap and it was easy to break.
Aluminium was the obvious choice for the next iteration.
After months of searching for a manufacturer who would work with me to machine wallets from aluminium, I finally found one and had some samples made.
It took several more months of design tweaks and samples to get the aluminium version to work.
Finally I committed financially to the tooling needed and ordering the first production batch and hoped people like you would be generous enough to give it a shot!
The response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Would this wallet suit me?
If you already use similar products such as a cash clip, card wallet, credit card holder or minimal wallets and don't have much use for coins in your life, then this product is for you.
If you still use typical bi-fold/tri-fold style leather wallets, then making the switch to a minimalist wallet for daily use is personal preference. If you rely heavily on paying with cash and coins, then perhaps this product isn't right for you.
If you are looking for something for occasional use with suit jackets/formal wear where a bulky wallet and coins are unsightly and unnecessary, then this is perfect for you.
Does it hold cash?
The Attenuo wallet is able to hold notes and cards, but not coins.
What is it made from?
Aircraft Grade 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy
How much does it weigh?
17 grams - less than two £1 coins
How is it made?
Each wallet is precision machined from a solid block of aluminium. The wallets are finished by anodising, which locks dye into the aluminum and protects it with a hard oxidised coating.
Which pocket do I use?
The wallet can be used in any pocket. We recommend carrying in your front pocket because your back pocket is an easy target for pickpockets. It’s also perfect for suit jacket pockets.
How big is it?
Approx 89mm x 58mm x 12mm. Typical bi and tri-fold wallets are double the thickness.
How many card can it hold?
6 embossed cards or 8 flat cards. So depending on what combination of cards you have, at a minimum it will hold 6.
Delivery is free within the UK. Delivery typically takes 3-5 working days.
